Mrs. Lamberts kindergartners are having so much fun learning to measure with nonstandard units! We are learning how to line up objects with the endpoint, determining longer/shorter, and greater than/less than. They are even mastering making the greater than and less than sign correctly!
A couple of our GES students showcasing their talents throughout New England. Great job girls, keep up the hard work and dedication required to compete in these dance competitions. Continue to SOAR!

On Friday afternoons, Mrs. Croteau and Mrs. Wells 1st grade split the classrooms up for some math fun and exploration. This week, they have been working on 3D shapes and the workplaces were full of challenges! All of the workplaces have students putting different shapes together to make a new shape. Great experiential learning mixed with some multi sensory math concepts.

Students have been earning "inchy" coins by completing a book review. Inchy coins allow the students to choose a book from our book vending machine as part of our reading initiatives. Here are the first two - Payton in grade 2 and Grayson in grade 4
The Stratford Grange donated dictionaries to Ms. Lacasse's 3rd Grade Class in this long-standing tradition! The kids absolutely loved them, and were very intrigued with the sign language component in the back! They spent the week exploring them and writing some thank you cards!
Mrs. Ladd's Star Students Continue to Shine Bright
Last week we learned we have a potential entrepreneur in our 5th grade. Alexis brought in her rubber band bracelet display filled with examples of her handiwork. She also loves the book, Heartbeat, by Sharon Creech, who authored a book that we read at the beginning of the year- Walk Two Moons. Great Job Alexis!

At GES we believe that first grade is a bridge year between the play-based learning in kindergarten and the academics that lead up to state mandated standardized testing. Our curriculum is rigorous but at age 6 and 7, brain science still says that children learn best by playing. This penguin craft will assess what students know about shapes as a screening tool for the upcoming unit in geometry. Collecting data on student knowledge before starting a new unit allows for lessons to be tailored to meet the needs of all learners. At the same time, this activity offers a celebration of learning as students finish a set of lessons on measurement and comparison with the theme of penguins. There is nothing more contagious than first graders excited about learning!
Students in grades 2-5 did a wonderful act of kindness by making get well cards for Dr. Carl Ladd and flowers for Mrs. Ladd! ❤️ Empathy, especially its in rawest form is a social skill that feeds so many other major critical social components that lead to a high social and emotional intelligence. Small acts, such as card making, is a great way to express feelings of support. Bravo students, Bravo!
