The Stratford Grange donated dictionaries to Ms. Lacasse's 3rd Grade Class in this long-standing tradition! The kids absolutely loved them, and were very intrigued with the sign language component in the back! They spent the week exploring them and writing some thank you cards!

Mrs. Ladd's Star Students Continue to Shine Bright Last week we learned we have a potential entrepreneur in our 5th grade. Alexis brought in her rubber band bracelet display filled with examples of her handiwork. She also loves the book, Heartbeat, by Sharon Creech, who authored a book that we read at the beginning of the year- Walk Two Moons. Great Job Alexis!

At GES we believe that first grade is a bridge year between the play-based learning in kindergarten and the academics that lead up to state mandated standardized testing. Our curriculum is rigorous but at age 6 and 7, brain science still says that children learn best by playing. This penguin craft will assess what students know about shapes as a screening tool for the upcoming unit in geometry. Collecting data on student knowledge before starting a new unit allows for lessons to be tailored to meet the needs of all learners. At the same time, this activity offers a celebration of learning as students finish a set of lessons on measurement and comparison with the theme of penguins. There is nothing more contagious than first graders excited about learning!

Students in grades 2-5 did a wonderful act of kindness by making get well cards for Dr. Carl Ladd and flowers for Mrs. Ladd! ❤️ Empathy, especially its in rawest form is a social skill that feeds so many other major critical social components that lead to a high social and emotional intelligence. Small acts, such as card making, is a great way to express feelings of support. Bravo students, Bravo!

William gave a very interesting and humorous presentation about his life and stories along the way. Did you know he has very eclectic taste in music and loves fantasy books for a genre! Great job William.
